Mkhitaryan pays tribute to late coach Lucescu

PanARMENIAN.Net - Inter midfielder and former Armenia national team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan, commenting on the death of renowned coach Mircea Lucescu, wrote on his Facebook page that football has lost a true gentleman.

He added that his heart is crying, noting that Lucescu was one of his first coaches.

“You were one of my first coaches — the one who gave me the opportunity to grow and begin my international career. I will always be grateful to you for allowing me to live what I had dreamed of since childhood.

Thank you for your advice, your trust, and for contributing to my development as both a footballer and a person.

Football has lost a true gentleman and a true visionary of the game.

Rest in peace, sir. You will always hold a special place in my heart. My heart is crying...”

Legendary coach Mircea Lucescu has died at the age of 80. He spent the longest period of his career at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mkhitaryan played under Lucescu at Shakhtar from 2010 to 2013, scoring 44 goals and providing 23 assists in 106 matches.
