Martirosyan wins silver at Sardinia chess festival![]() May 11, 2026 - 17:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Hayk Martirosyan won the silver medal at the international chess tournament “Sardinia World Chess Festival 2026” held in Italy. Martirosyan scored 7 points out of 9 possible and shared second through fourth places before taking second overall on tiebreak criteria, the Chess Federation of Armenia reported. Armenian grandmaster Mamikon Gharibyan also earned 7 points and finished fourth based on additional indicators. The tournament was won by Frederik Svane, who scored 7.5 points. Among Armenia’s other representatives, grandmaster Emin Ohanyan and FIDE Master Sargis Manukyan each collected 5.5 points. Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup.
