Sevak Artsruni: We mustn't link Armenian-Georgian relations issue to Javahk problemJuly 1, 2009 - 18:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "We mustn't link Armenian-Georgian relations issue to Javahk problem," Head of Yerkir Union Sevak Artsruni told a news conference in Yerevan. He noted similarities between Javahk problem and Armenian Genocide issue, which remains unresolved. "Within recent years Armenia repeatedly altered its opinion on different issues, but Diaspora stays true to its ideals. The main problem of Javahk's Armenian population lies in the fact that it hasn't yet formed a serious legislative force to protect its rights. Vahagn Chakhalyan is an enemy no.1 to Georgian authorities and they're aware of it," Artsruni noted, adding that Javahk needs a new leader, who could resist the authorities. According to him, Shirak Torosyan might become one, and this is the reason he was forbidden from Georgia. Artsruni also commented on the visit of Mikhail Saakashvili to Armenia, noting that the situation with Javahk will probably improve after Sahakashvili's downfall. "Don't expect major changes or concessions. The authorities will probably become a little more lenient towards Armenian community, and nothing more," Sevak Artsruni noted. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
