US TURKS CALL UPON PRESIDENT BUSH TO REFRAIN FROM RECOGNIZING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the Congress of Turkish associations of America Orhan Kaymakchalan addressed a letter to US president George W. Bush urging him «to give an appropriate characteristic to the historical events» in his annual speech April 24 on the occasion of the Armenian genocide. As reported by «Arminfo» agency making reference to «Anatolian agency», Kaymakchalan in particular writes that allegedly Armenians and Turks live in peace and friendship side by side in Turkey, where thousands of Armenians found employment. Kaymakchalan further reminds, that in the speech April 24 last year Bush used the word «deportation», while in the course of the World War I «the Armenian separatists killed many Moslems.» Let us remind that in the course of his electoral campaign George W. Bush pledged to recognize the fact of the Armenian genocide, but breaking his pre-election promise last year, he only stated in his message: «this day is a day of commemoration of one of the greatest tragedies in the history - some 1.5 million Armenians were coercively deported and annihilated.»
