Lynn Woolsey: I’ve been waiting 18 years for Armenian Genocide resolution to be adopted

PanARMENIAN.Net - I’ve been waiting 18 years for Armenian Genocide resolution to be adopted, California Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey said.

“Denial of Armenian Genocide means denial of the victims’ memory. Some Congressmen maintain this is not the right time to take the decision. When is the right time, then?” Lynn Woolsey questioned at the hearing of U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“US has to join in the ranks of 42 American states and 11 states of NATO who’ve recognized the Armenian Genocide,” California Congresswoman emphasized, adding “We have to protect human rights.”

The Armenian Genocide resolution

The resolution affirming the U.S. record on the Armenian Genocide (H.Res.252) was formally introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Reps. Adam Schiff (D.-CA), George Radanovich (R.-CA), Frank Pallone, Jr. (D.-NJ), and Mark Kirk (R.-Ill). On March 4, 2010 it was adopted with a 22-21 vote by the House Committee on Foreign Relations. A similar resolution was introduced in the Senate.
