According to the report, IHH members’ testimony revealed the ties between the organization and Turkish ruling elite, specifically, PM Erdogan. Besides, the report says that Erdogan was coordinating the entire preparation process of the IHH “peacekeeping” mission. Meanwhile, Erdogan needed the action to strengthen his political influence inside Turkey. The report said while most of Mavi Marmara's passengers were humanitarian volunteers who underwent security checks before boarding the ship in Antalya in Turkey, a group of IHH activists had boarded the ship in an Istanbul port without examination.
