Vanes Martirosyan to take on Pawel WolakSeptember 30, 2010 - 12:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Top Rank Promotions' CEO, Bob Arum, said that he has "A moral obligation" to match junior middleweight (154 pounds) contender Pawel Wolak of New Jersey (27-1, 17 KOs) against unbeaten prospect Vanes Martirosyan of Glendale, Calif., (28-0, 17 KOs) since Wolak's scheduled September bout with junior middleweight and middleweight (160 pounds) prospect Julio Cesar Chavez of Mexico did not come off, FanHouse reported. "We were talking to Wolak about fighting Chavez, and we ain't going to leave him cold. We're going to put him in with Vanes. That fight will happen either that day, Dec. 4, or within the next to weeks on a [Dec. 18] Fox Show. So the guy, Wolak, is fighting. So he is going to get a good pay day," said Arum. Arum said that Wolak, who usually campaigns as a junior middleweight, will not face as much of a weight disadvantage by facing another 154-pounder in Martirosyan as he might have opposite Chavez, who has fought mostly as a middleweight. "In all likelihood, Wolak would have had to fight Chavez at a weight that is halfway in between junior middleweight and middleweight," said Arum. "But if he's fighting Vanes Martirosyan, then he's going to be fighting at junior middleweight, which is what he wants."
