Armenia represented by regions of Tavush and Lori at the Assembly of European RegionsNovember 11, 2010 - 17:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan participated in Istanbul-hosted AER General Assembly 2010. At the event, a resolution was taken for Armenia’s inclusion in the Assembly of European Regions. At the Assembly, Armenia was represented by the regions of Tavush and Lori. During the Minister’s meeting with AER President Michele Sabban, the parties discussed implementation of joint activities, as well as possibilities for conducting the event in Armenia. At the meeting with Gevorgyan, Dirk Ahner, European Commission’s Regional Policy Director General, stressed that the start of European Partnership program took Armenia-EU relations to the new level. The Assembly of European Regions is the political organisation of the regions of Europe and a representative of their interests at the European and international levels. Its mission: to defend the interests of the regions in the political process and to develop interregional cooperation. 270 Regions from 33 countries and 16 interregional organisations are members of the AER.
