Vladimir Zakharov: referendum in Sudan showed U.S. has no final decision on Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the Institute of Political Studies of the Black Sea and Caspian region Vladimir Zakharov said that the referendum on South Sudan’s independence has become another example of the West’s double standards.

The problem is that the west does not want to link this referendum to the Karabakh or Transdniestrian problems. The situation will go out of control. Several states will appear on the world map within the upcoming couple of years. They will not be recognized by all, but will be independent. The referendum in Sudan showed that the U.S., which manages all this process, has no final decision on Nagorno Karabakh and Transdniestria,” Zakharov told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

He added that the situation at the Azerbaijani-Iranian border and Baku’s stance on the issue are fraught with dangerous consequences. “Baku is trying not to spoil its relations with Iran but promises the U.S. its support in case of hostilities. It seems that Azerbaijan maintains neutrality towards Iran in return for Tehran’s assistance in a resolution of the Karabakh conflict in its favor. However, attempts to continue secret negotiations will come to no good,” Zakharov concluded.
