TRNC MFA thinks it has right to comment on RA President’s statement

PanARMENIAN.Net - The unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) considers it has the right to comment on the Armenian President’s statement made during his state visit to Cyprus.

TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun disseminated a statement, which reads: “Sargsian's remarks lack historical knowledge about Cyprus issue, and it is a new example of remarks made by foreign statesmen who aim to get appreciated by the Greek Cypriot administration."

Ozgurgun went on saying that motherland Turkey had staged 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation within the framework of its rights and liabilities stemming from international treaties, and the operation had brought peace to the island.

"We think it will be useful to once more remind Mr. Sargsyan that the operation saved Turkish Cypriot people from annihilation," Ozgurgun said.

In his speech in the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia is concerned with the resolution of the Cyprus issue. “Armenia has never accepted and will never accept any attempt to divide brotherly Cyprus. We have never put up and will never put up with the occupation of the North of this friendly country,” the Armenian President said.
