Expert: Iran only regional country interested in maintenance of status quo in KarabakhFebruary 16, 2011 - 13:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Military expert David Jamalyan has said that the anti-Iranian hysteria in Azerbaijan is aimed to exert pressure on Iran and hamper further strengthening of Armenian-Iranian cooperation. During the Feb 16 news conference in Yerevan , he reminded about Azerbaijan’s ongoing blockade of Armenia, it imposed to compel concession on Karabakh. For his part, expert Mher Baghdasaryan noted that Iran is the only country in the region which is interested in maintenance of status quo in Karabakh. This is conditioned by Azerbaijan’s unfriendly policy towards Iran and claims to Iranian lands (South Azerbaijan), according to him.
