Brazil World Cup host cities to get high-speed 4G wireless technology

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Brazilian government says it will prioritize World Cup host cities when installing high-speed fourth generation wireless technology.

The government says the networks will be implemented gradually, but the 12 cities hosting World Cup matches will be first in line to receive the next-generation technology which highly improves voice and data transmission for cellular phones.

Communication Ministry official Artur Coimbra de Oliveira tells Globo TV's G1 website that companies will go through bidding processes to implement the technology.

The speeds on the 4G networks can be 10 times faster than the current 3G technology.

Brazil will be hosting the World Cup for the first time since 1950. It will also host the 2016 Rio Olympics, AP reported.
