People in Armenian villages ignorant of pension reforms

PanARMENIAN.Net - The program of pension reforms and labor market of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) jointly with АМ Partners Consulting Company presented a research on awareness of Armenian public regarding pension reforms.

Representatives of government, NGOs and international organizations participated at the event.

АМ Partners Consulting Company program manager Vardan Aghbalyan presented the research results saying that rural residents are less aware of pension reforms, than Yerevan residents, however are positive about them. He also said that men are better informed on the mentioned reforms than women.

According to Aghbalyan, only 46% of respondents are well-informed about the pension system currently being carried out in Armenia. 36% heard about the reforms, 39% expressed will to join the pension accumulation fund. He also said that 81% of respondents stated the main problem of the pension system is the small pension amount, followed by high pension age.
