Martirosyan vs. Pirog clash due Sept 24 in Krasnodar

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to powerful Russian promoter Kirill Pchelnikov, WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (18-0, 14 KOs) will conduct the second defense of his title against WBO #1 and obligatory challenger Gennady Martirosyan (22-2, 11 KOs) on September 24 in Krasnodar, a short distance from his hometown of Temryuk. It’ll be the first ever title fight between two Russians to be held not only in Russia but also across the globe.

“We have already reached agreement with Team Martirosyan. There are few technical details to work off but I can say that this fight is finally on after a lengthy period of negotiations”, confirmed Pchelnikov to R-Sport Russian media agency. “The contest will be held at Olympus sport auditorium in Krasnodar. We are planning a huge event with six more quality duels between well-know fighters,” boxingscene.com cited him as saying.
