Moscow to host Aeroflot Open 2012 chess fest Feb 6-17

PanARMENIAN.Net - Moscow will host Aeroflot Open Chess Festival on February 6 through 17, 2012.

The event is open to chess players of varied qualifications: from unrated to very high ratings.

Traditionally, the festival will take place under the aegis of Aeroflot Russian Airlines.

Three Open Tournaments (A, B and C), each a nine round Swiss, are made up according to ratings of the participants.

Tournament A, which requires a rating above 2550, usually boasts a number of extra class players.

In addition to the Open Tournaments, a Blitz Tournament will be held within the festival. The festival prize fund is Euro 150 thousand.

Festival organizers are Aeroflot Russian Airlines, the Association of Chess Federations and the Russian Chess Federation, ChessBase reported.
