Luc Carvounas of the Socialist Party of France urged for adoption of a bill penalizing Armenian Genocide denial. “By refusing to adopt the bill, we’re supporting the ongoing policy of Armenian Genocide denial,” the Senator said, urging for protection of the Armenian community of France. The Senator believes that the bill may positively affect Armenia-Turkey relations. “Turkey must come to terms with its past. The adoption of the bill may prompt a change in Turkey’s policy, creating new possibilities of cooperation with the country,” Sen. Carvounas stressed.
