ARMENIA FOR UN ROLE CONSOLIDATION IN MIDDLE EAST

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia considers that the UN and the member-states of this organization should contribute to the recommencement of the wide-ranging peacemaking process in the Middle East, as Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian stated addressing the 58-th session of the UN General Assembly. "Armenia welcomes the efforts of the "Middle East four" put forth in Israel and Palestine, and is convinced that the "highway map" is the only viable variant for establishing peace in the region", - V. Oskanian stated. Commenting on the situation in Iraq, Armenian FM said that the "world leading states should make a compromise to enable the UN, possessing great power, to unite the countries, which will overtake the responsibility for establishing democracy and stability in Middle East in the period being fateful for it".
