NPP stress tests priority for Armenian Energy Ministry in 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - Implementation of stress tests at Metsamor nuclear power plant aimed at boosting safety level is among priorities of Armenian Ministry of Energy and National Resources in 2012, according to RA Energy Minister.

As Armen Movsisyan told a press conference on Feb 16, it first of all stipulates testing safety level of nuclear fuel rods in emergency situations.

In this context, he noted that the EU has resolved to hold stress tests at all NPPs of EU-member states following the nuclear disaster in Japan.

On June 23, 2011, Armenia along with Croatia, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Belarus signed a declaration stipulating conducting NPP stress tests under requirements set forth by the EU specialists.
