Dereck Chisora may earn back boxing licence with good behavior

PanARMENIAN.Net - Dereck Chisora could earn his boxer's licence back through "evidence of change" according to Robert Smith, Secretary of the British Boxing Board, who said that positive actions from the heavyweight outside the ring could reverse the removal of his licence “down the line”.

Chisora, 28, had his licence removed 48 hours ago after a 4-hour Board hearing into three counts of ‘misconduct’ slapping opponent Vitali Klitschko at the weigh-in ahead of their world title fight; spitting water into the face of Klitschko’s brother Wladimir, and brawling with fellow British heavyweight David Haye in Munich last month after which Chisora insisted that he “will not giving up the dream of becoming a world champion”.

The Board’s decision not to fine or suspend Chisora, means that his licence is removed indefinitely. However, the Board Secretary said that it did not mean a life ban, and there could be a way back.

Asked if training children, working in the community, and showing a willingness to materially show change could reverse the decision, Smith explained: “It would all be taken into consideration.

Anyone can apply for a licence, boxer or trainer. Mr Chisora's licence was withdrawn for a reason. To get the licence back, the Stewards would have to be convinced that returning the licence was merited, according to The Telegraph.
