Elections of 2007 to predetermine further development of Armenia 20 years ahead

PanARMENIAN.Net - First of all Armenia needs normal and fair parliamentarian elections, then the CoE and USA. And this very election will predetermine further development of the country 20 years ahead, the RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan told a press conference in Yerevan. He said, representatives of "Millenium Challenges" corporation have already declared that they can stop the program in case of falsified elections. "The democratic development of the country is much more important for us, which cannot be estimated by millions of dollars. I must underline that upcoming elections must not determine the political apportionment of future parliament, what coalition government we will have. They also should not be viewed as an inspection on the eve of presidential elections in 2008," Torosyan underlined.

At the same time he noticed he cannot say the election will be held without a single violation. "It's impossible. But violations must not influence on the outcome. The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has several thousand people and it is just impossible to control everyone. Nevertheless, all together we must make the elections fair and transparent," the NA Speaker said, who occupies 3rd place in RPA list.
