Armenia should speak to West in its language

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan will not stop at adoption of the resolution in the UN General Assembly, an Armenian political scientist said.

"Although the resolution in non-binding, it will cause emergence of new resolutions which will be supported by more than 39 countries," Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan told a news conference today.

He reminded that GUAM member countries are planning to introduce a resolution on frozen conflicts. "The draft resolution refers to the Nagorno Karabakh conflicts as well as the conflicts in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. It's not difficult to suppose that the motion will be backed by countries even not familiarized the history of these conflicts," he said.

He noted that Armenia stood good chance to prevent passage of Azerbaijani resolution in the UN GA. "On March 19, 1992 the authorities of Nagorno Karabakh informed the UN Secretary General that in compliance with article 51 of the UN regulations, Karabakh will take measures for self-defense from Azerbaijan's military aggression. No reaction followed. Our delegation should have used this fact," he said.

"Armenian diplomacy should introduce draft resolutions to mention of numerous violations of the international law norms by Azerbaijan. The Armenian states should learn speak to west in its language," Melik-Shahnazaryan resumed.
