Armenia satisfied with EU expert support

PanARMENIAN.Net - The sixth sitting of the EU Advisory Group headed by Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan and head of the European Union’s delegation to Armenia, ambassador Raul de Luzenberger took place in Yerevan to focus on the Group’s quarterly report and action plan for June 2011- May 2012.

Opening the sitting, Baghdasaryan expressed satisfaction with the activity of the Advisory Group, stressing that it carries out important work for economic reformation, establishment of the rule of law and protection of human rights.

According to the NSC Secretary, the country has registered substantial progress not only in the process of reformations in police, tax and customs system but also in talks on Association Agreement between Armenia and EU.

Baghdasaryan said that the Armenia has developed its strategy on stimulation of reforms within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative.

In turn, ambassador Luzenberger stated that the relations between Armenia and EU entered a new stage with the start of talks on Association Agreement. He also said that the European Union plans to provide new instruments to the European Neighborhood Policy program and from now on will build relations with partners based on these countries’ readiness to be closer to the EU through implementation of reforms.
