Authorities were opposed to Kocharian’s return - oppositionist

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc succeeded in preventing the 2nd Armenian President Robert Kocharian from gaining Prime Minister’s seat, according to the leader of Democratic Motherland opposition party.

As Petros Makeyan told a news conference in Yerevan, “despite Kocharian’s reluctance to become “the youngest pensioner in Armenia”, current President Serzh Sargsyan and ANC shared unwillingness to see the return of the ex-President. “The authorities were opposed to Kocharian’s return, so as not to “serve two masters”.”

Commenting on Russian PM Vladimir Putin’s decision to run for president and his possible support for Kocharian’s candidacy at the oncoming election, Makeyan noted that the present-day Russia is likely to consider the moods of Armenian people, who’re clearly against Kocharian’s return.
