Armenian police described detainment of teenager girls as preventive measureNovember 19, 2010 - 16:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan police described bringing a group of nonconformist teenagers to police as merely a preventive measure. “We only do our job,” the deputy head of the Police Department for Juvenile Affairs in Armenia Nelly Duryan stated. As she noted in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the actions of the police are aimed at protection of children themselves. Chief inspector of the Armenian Police Department for Juvenile Affairs, Hayk Basilyan, confirmed the information, pointing out that the teenagers were only invited for a conversation. “Multiple alarming reports on emo subculture arose our concern. Through having a conversation with emo kids we hoped to find out how true are the rumors,” Basilyan stated, however, refraining to divulge what was revealed as a result. On November 18, several teenager girls were detained by the Armenian police, affiliation with emo subculture cited as a reason.
