Addressing the attendees, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that the event will help strengthen Armenia-Diaspora ties. “Thanks to the 10-million Diaspora, Armenia managed to resolve a great number of problems during 20 years of its independence.” He also emphasized that maintenance of Diaspora’s cultural heritage, specifically the Western Armenian languages has always been among Armenia’s priorities. “To preserve the Armenian culture, a system of distance education and courses for Armenian communities abroad should be organized,” President Sargsyan said. For his part, President of Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan congratulated the participants on the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence and welcomed the format of the event. “Thanks to the flexibility of Diaspora, we resist challenges. Artsakh is ready to work in this format, viewing it as a mechanism to cement the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora trinity,” he said.
