Armenian kickboxing team wins 4 gold medals in European Cup championship

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the kickboxing championship of Europe held in Kharkov on April 13-16, the Armenian team won 8 gold medals. Tournament participations represented 12 countries: Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran.



The Armenian kickboxers won 4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.



The winners of the gold medal are Garik Tsatouryan (weigh class: below 60 kg.), Armen Haroutyunyan (weight class below 87 kg.) and Aram Sahakyan (weight class: below 69 kg.). They all competed in the discipline of full contact.



Among kickboxers aged under 16, the winner of gold medal was Hrant Hayrapetyan.



Vahram Arakelyan (weight class: below 46 kg.) won a silver medal and Arthur Hakobyan (weight class: 60 kg.), Ishkhan Asatryan (weight class: 44 kg.) and Hayk Hakobyan (weight class: below 55 kg.) won bronze medals in light contact competitions.



In World Cup team event, the Armenian kickboxing team ranks third, preceded by Russia and Ukraine.



President of the RA Kickboxing Federation Garnik Hayrapetyan personally awarded the winners.



11 sportsmen in 7 weight classes represented Armenia in the European Cup under the supervision of Coach Artak Melikyan.



The republican kickboxing championship is scheduled for May 7-8. Thereafter, the qualifying sportsmen will prepare for the World Cup to be held in Spanish capital Madrid on June 22-29.
