Agayar Akhundadze: I thank Armenia for making us feel safeSeptember 15, 2009 - 19:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Upon completion of EU championship, held at Yerevan's Sports and Concert Complex on September 11-13, Chief Coach of Azerbaijan Judo Team Agayar Akhundadze thanked RA authorities for great arrangement of the tournament, expressing a hope that EU Championship will become the first step of RA-Azerbaijan collaboration, creating premises for the start of sport diplomacy. "Armenian sportsmen's performance was very good, especially so, that of Artyom Baghdasaryan's. I'm glad that judo is progressing in Armenia, where my former student work. Sport is an ambassador of good will. I think of holding a tournament in Azerbaijan, to which we'll by all means invite Armenian sportsmen. I wish peace to both of our nations," Agayar Akhundadze stated. "I thank Armenia for making us feel completely safe. We walked around Yerevan without any trouble. Should Armenia hold another tournament, we're sure to participate," Chief Coach of Azerbaijan Judo Team noted. All representatives of Azerbaijan Team won medals at the tournament. Elmar Gasymov (weight category 100 kg) won the gold medal.
