Arthur Gevorgyan: I am dissatisfied with our team results at World Judo Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - The World Judo Championships finished in Tokyo (Japan) on September 13.

Armenia was represented by bronze winner of 2009 World Championships Hovhannes Davtyan (weight class 60kg), World Cup winner Armen Nazaryan and Hambardzum Tonoyan (weight class 66kg), as well as Gayane Hambardzumyan (weight class 48 kg).

Hovhannes Davtyan won three fights, but suffered a defeat by Beslan Mudranov (Russia).

Chief Coach of the Armenian judo team Arthur Gevorgyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that Davtyan’s defeat was reasoned by biased attitude of judges.

As for performance of Gayane Hambardzumyan, Armen Nazaryan and Hambardzum Tonoyan, the coach said that their results have not justified his expectations. He added that the sportsmen should improve the situation until the yearend.

“Armenia’s Championships will be organized in October, after which the team will leave for the UAE to participate in a tournament there,” said Gevorgyan.
