Armenia’s women weightlifters to leave for Antalya for World Championships on September 16

PanARMENIAN.Net - Antalya will be hosting the World Weightlifting Championships on September 17-26. Participants will be able to qualify for the Olympic Games in London.

Chief Coach of Armenia’s women team Artashes Nersisyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that they had several trainings in Tsaghkadzor, Abovian and Gyumri after the European Championships. “Fortunately, our team members have no injuries. We will leave for Antalya on September 16,” said Nersisyan.

According to him, the most important thing for the team members is to qualify for the Olympic Games and, of course, to win as many medals as possible.

Armenia will be represented by Elen Grigoryan (weight class 58kg), Christine Petrosyan (weight class 63kg), European champion Meline Daluzyan (weight class 69kg) and World Championships silver winner Hripsime Khurshudyan (weight class 75kg).

As for Armenia’s men team, it also had trainings in Tsaghkadzor and Abovian. “We will leave for Turkey on September 20. Our weightlifters are in a good physical shape and will try to qualify for the Olympic Games,” said Chief Coach of the team Poghos Poghosyan.

Armenia’s men team will be represented by Olympic Games bronze winner, World Championships silver winner, European Champion Tigran Martirosyan, Olympic Games bronze winner, World Championships silver winner, European Champion Gevorg Davtyan (both in weight class 77kg), Olympic Games bronze winner, European champion Tigran Martirosyan and European Championships silver winner Ara Khachatryan (both in weight class 85kg), as well as European Champion Gevorg Poghosyan (weight class 94kg) and Arthur Babayan (weight class 105kg).
