Tigran Kotanjyan tops Karen Asryan Memorial standings

PanARMENIAN.Net - Jermuk is hosting the 3rd Karen Asryan Memorial with 64 chess players from Armenia, Russia and Georgia participating.

Tigran Kotanjyan tied his 6th round game vs. Konstantine Shanava to top the tournament standings with 5 points, followed by David Petrosyan (5 points). Georgian grandmaster Konstantine Shanava with 4,5 points to his score is the second runner-up.

The tournament with a USD15 thousand prize fund will last till October 14.

Karen Asryan, the Armenian grandmaster, 2006 chess Olympian, died at the age of 28 in 2008. The Chess Giants tournament, which was stopped over his death, was later named after him.
