Nalbandian retains 19th position in ATP rankingsApril 11, 2011 - 12:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Argentina’s David Nalbandian retained 19th position (1585 points) in the men’s tennis rankings released by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) on April 11, 2011. Spaniard Rafael Nadal continues to top the rankings, followed by Roger Federer (Switzerland) and Novak Djokovic (Serbia). Nalbandian had double surgery to his left leg on March 11 that put him out of action for six to eight weeks. The Argentine-Armenian, who also had a back operation last year, was suffering from a hernia in his left groin and a torn lower leg muscle. The 29-year-old aggravated the groin strain during the Buenos Aires Open in February and this was responsible for the muscle tear when he played in Argentina's Davis Cup tie against Romania. His recovery will take six to eight weeks so it is estimated he could be fit to play the claycourt Masters 1000s in Madrid and Rome ahead of the (French Open) tournament at Roland Garros. Top stories Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup. Gor Manvelyan has denied reports alleging that he has expressed a desire to one day play for the French national team. Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not considering FC Spartak Moscow as his next haven, according to fresh reports. 10 Armenian lifters will compete in the 2021 World Championships scheduled to be held from 7 to 17 December in Tashkent.
