Perez: we’re 100% and we’re ready for Darchinyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former bantamweight world champion Yonnhy ‘El Colombiano’ Perez (20-1-1, 14 KOs) of Santa Fe Springs, California by way of Colombia will take on Vic ‘Raging Bull’ Darchinyan (35-3-1, 27 KOs) this Saturday, April 23 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, California in the co-feature bout of SHOWTIME’s Bantamweight Tournament Final ‘Winner Takes All.’

In the main event, WBC Silver bantamweight world champion Abner Mares (21-0-1, 13 KOs) of Mexico will face IBF bantamweight world champion Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko (28-2, 22 KOs) of Ghana.

“We trained really hard for this fight, we’re 100% and we’re ready for Darchinyan,” Perez told fightnews.com.

“I know he’s a very strong fighter and a very good fighter. He’s the type of fighter that likes to make you fight his fight but that’s not going to happen, I’m going to fight my fight not his fight. Saturday, April 23rd everyone’s going to see a great fight and one that I know I’m going to win,” he said.

Asked about future plans, Perez said: “Now we’re just focused on this fight ahead of us and we’re not thinking about whose next. I’m focused on beating Darchinyan and then we’ll talk to my manager Frank Espinoza and promoters Gary Shaw and Thompson Boxing and we’ll see what’s next.”
