Ward beats Abraham

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 14, in Carson, California, Arthur Abraham (32-3, 26 KOs) saw his dreams go up in smoke when he was dominated over twelve rounds by WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KOs). With respect to his future, Abraham is still not sure on what he plans to do, BoxingScene.com reported.

Although Abraham is much smaller than his Super Six opponents, a move back to 160 is not going to happen. Abraham was struggling to make 160 for several years and no longer capable of making the weight in a safe manner. He would like to fight again before the year is over, but he's not sure on when that will happen. The next fight is almost a given to take place in Germany.

"I don't know what I'm going to do right now. Going back to middleweight is not an option. It's not going to happen. I'll go home, sit down with my promoter and my team, and figure out what's best for my career. I'm not happy about the loss to Ward, but I felt that I did well," Abraham said.

Following his victory, Ward said, “It’s a tough business. I was able to pull off a victory but I have to go back and watch the tape to see what I did right and wrong.” “Abraham was very strong and very tough. My trainer says I was able to make the necessary adjustments but I wish the ref had allowed me to fight on the inside because that is what I trained for.” “Bite down and fight back is what I did. I am going to stay humble and work hard. I want to be champion for a long time and get hit as little as possible.”

With the victory, Ward moves on to the Super Six finale against the winner of the May 21st semifinal between Carl “The Cobra” Froch and Glencoffe Johnson, according to fightnews.com.
