EU May Suspend Cooperation With Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan may face a lag in EU Wider Europe: New Neighbors Program, Benita Ferrero-Waldner EU Commissioner for Foreign Affairs stated yesterday. The cause of it is establishment of relations with unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Joint Cyprus is recognized by the international community, including the EU. At the moment the country blocks Baku progress within European Neighborhood Policy, as Azerbaijan has established air communication with Northern Cyprus. "I informed Azeris that if they did not change their decision, we will develop cooperation only with Armenia and Georgia within European Neighborhood Policy. Nevertheless, we hope Azerbaijan will find a solution to the problem," Benita Ferrero-Waldner remarked.
