Catholicos Aram I Condemned Cartoon Caricatures of Prophet MuhammadFebruary 7, 2006 - 19:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Cilician Catholicos Aram I condemned the cartoon caricatures of prophet Muhammad published in some European editions. The press release received from Antilias says, in part, "As a head of the ancient Christian church existing side by side in the Near East, we consider this fact to be inadmissible as regards our neighbors. Both Christians and Muslims live in a society and this supposes respect of its members for each other. We welcome freedom of speech. But it should base upon respect for the religious symbolism and belief of people. Freedom of speech is not a license for offending the feelings of the faithful. We hope that the Danish leadership despite religious and political preferences will manage to find a solution for the problem."Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
