ICG: Communities' keeping away from each other do not promote Karabakh settlement

PanARMENIAN.Net - An intercourse between the two communities [Azerbaijani and Armenian] would help to find an option that would satisfy both parties and serve a way out of the conflict situation, Magdalena Frichova, Caucasus Project Director of International Crisis Group (ICG) said while commenting on the mutual visits of Azerbaijani and Armenian intellectuals yesterday.



Ms. Frichova regards that such initiatives are very important. "Communities' keeping away from each other do not serve the solution of the conflict, there should be relations between the communities," she said.



Caucasus Project Director commenting on the ICG's preparing report on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict stated that the document will be ready either late July or early August.



"I have already visited Azerbaijan, I will leave for Armenia in a few days," she said.

She also said that this report will give recommendations to Azerbaijani and Armenian governments regarding the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.



"Our reports are intended for political figures and world community, and we regard that it will help to the peaceful solution of the conflict," she concluded, APA reports



Yesterday the Azeri delegation led by Polad Bul-Bul ogly, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia, crossed the mine-free sector of the contact line between the Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forced, on Mardakert-Terter (Mir Bashir) road. The delegation was accompanied to Stepanakert by representatives of the Karabakhi side. A delegation of Armenian intelligentsia led by Armen Smbatian, RA Ambassador to Russia also arrived in the NKR capital. Afterwards, the delegations made for Yerevan to meet Armenian President Robert Kocharian.



The visit was organized by initiative of both Ambassadors.
