Baku introduces its compromise optionOctober 6, 2009 - 19:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan has not changed its stance on Karabakh conflict settlement, Azeri Deputy FM Araz Azimov said. Azerbaijan's compromise, in his view, consists in granting Karabakh Armenians and Azeris high level of autonomy within Azerbaijani state. "Settlement process should be logically accompanied by liberation of occupied regions. We are for gradual liberation policy, but process should not be delayed for years. Lachin province is of high significance for entire region. So both Armenians and Azeris should use the route passing via that territory," 1news.az quotes Azimov as saying. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
