Armenia, EU to start visa facilitation talks soonMarch 16, 2011 - 10:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Commission welcomes Armenia’s efforts aimed at intensification of trade and strengthening of administrative institutions. During a joint news conference with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said that the Commission is resolved to cement relations with Armenia in the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative. “After discussion of a number of issues, I got an impression that our Armenian colleagues believe them to be priority ones, what is extremely important for the improvement of the investment and business environment. The European Commission assists Armenia in implementation of economic reforms, including provision of consultations,” he said. According to Barroso, the most important factor is fulfillment of commitments and progress of democratic reform. “As to movement of people, I am please to say that we are starting visa facilitation talks,” he said.
