Armenia’s Sergei Movsesian will rival Andrei Istratescu of France. Hrant Melkumyan and Vladimir Akopian will play against Viktor Bologan (Moldova) and Kaido Kulaots (Estonia) respectively. Robert Hovhannisyan will face off against Russia’s Nikita Vitiugov, while Gabriel Sargissian will meet Davorin Kuljasevic from Serbia. Tigran L. Petrosian will rival Russia’s Artur Gabrielian, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan will play against Ukrainian Alexander Areshchenko, Zaven Andriasian will challenge Azerbaijan’s Vugar Rasulov. Other pairings are as follows: Hovhannes Gabuzyan - Branko Damljanovic (Serbia), Arman Pashikian - Georg Froewis (Austria), Vladimir Pogosian - Claudiu-Cristian Dobre (Romania). Movsesian, Melkumian and Akopian scored 4.5 points each, lagging behind the leaders for only 0.5 point. The winner will get euro 14 thous. The event is organized in 11-round Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Laws of Chess. The rate of play will be 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
