Oppositionist Yenikomshian arrest ruling appealed at court

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armavir penitentiary did not provide the necessary conditions for the Founding Parliament opposition movement member Alek Yenikomshian, as required by the law, Yenikomshian’s lawyer, Nikolay Baghdasaryan told Panorama.am.

“The international obligations undertaken by Armenia require professionals to take care of him,” Baghdasaryan noted.

According to the lawyer, the state doesn’t provide such professionals to take care of Yenikomshian; we were informed that there is a lack of specialists able to take care of a detainee with disabilities.

Alek Yenikomshian hasn’t yet signed any of the case files.

“Yesterday, we filed a complaint to the Court of Appeals, which we hope will be satisfied. Yenikomshian hasn’t been provided with the Braille version of the copies of the documents to get acquainted with, which is a serious violation of the procedure,” Baghdasaryan said.

According to the lawyer, while preparing the appeal, he noticed that all Articles of the Criminal Procedure Code have been violated.

Yenikomshian was detained in the scope of the criminal case initiated on the seizure of the patrol police regiment in Yerevan on July 17.
