Aronian suffers first loss in 2016 Sinquefield Cup round 6

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian lost to France’s Maxime Vachier – Lagrave in round 6 of Saint Louis-hosted 2016 Sinquefield Cup.

China’s Ding Liren beat Russia’s Peter Svidler, Bulgaria’s Veselin Topalov lost to Wesley So (U.S.). The Viswanathan Anand- Anish Giri, Hikaru Nakamura- Fabiano Caruana pairs ended their games in a tie.

After round 6, So is leading the tournament with 4 points, followed by Topalov and Anand (3.5 points each). Aronian, Vachier – Lagrave, Nakamura, Caruana and Ding Liren share 4-8 spots with 3 points each. Giri gained 2.5 points, while Svidler comes last with only 1.5 points to his score, Sputnik-Armenia reports.
