Armenian boxers may be given individual accommodation in Baku

PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 22, Armenia’s boxing squad left for Tbilisi to fly for Baku to the World Championship.

A PanARMENIAN.Net reporter was told in the Boxing Federation of Armenia, that Armenia’s delegation in Tbilisi will be met by security service representative on Azerbaijan’s side.

The organizers have promised to provide Armenians’ security as in the youth box championship. “Our Federation officially received a letter from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Sport on providing Armenian sportsmen’s security. We don’t know yet where they will stay, but it will probably be a separate building,” Leva Hovhannisyan, Federation’s Secretary General said.

Armenian delegation is headed by Armenian Box Federation first Vice-President Derenik Gabrielyan, Sport Minister Adviser on youth issues Hovsep Sahakyan, main coach Rafayel Mehrabyan, coaches Karen Aghamalyan and Mekhak Ghazaryan and masseur Harutyun Prazyan also left for Baku.

Armenia’s squad consists of Hovhannes Danielyan (w/k 49), Hovhannes Bochkov (w/k 56), Vladimir Sarukhanyan (w/k 60), Hrachik Javakhyan (w/k 64), Samvel Matevosyan (w/k 69), Andranik Hakobyan (w/k 75), Artur Khachatryan (w/k 81) and Armen Simonyan (w/k +91).

The world championship kicks off on September 22 and closes on October 10. Boxers taking 1-8 places will make it to the Olympics.
