ANC's main goal is President's resignation

PanARMENIAN.Net - On October 8, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc completed a series of protest actions and adopted a resulting resolution consisting of 18 points.

The resolution says in part that about 1000 people have spent nights in tents in Liberty Square since September 30. It says that the sit-downs strikes proved the Congress to be the only political force capable to press for extraordinary parliamentary and presidential elections.

The ANC stressed that the authorities resorted to illegal measures, including blockade of highways leading to Yerevan to prevent people from attending the rallies, but did not risk attacking the protesters.

The Congress also said that the resignation of President Serzh Sargsyan is their main goal.

The next rally is scheduled for October 28.
