Stepan Safaryan: Azerbaijan was caught in its own trap

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hague court ruling prompted intensification of Azeri military rhetoric. Azerbaijan was caught in its own trap. Terming Karabakh issue as a conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the latter’s resumption of hostilities would suggest Azerbaijan’s waging a war both against Armenia and CSTO, Stepan Safaryan , the head of Heritage parliamentary group emphasized.

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, instead of attempting to win armaments drive against Armenia, Azerbaijan’s main concern should be excelling Russian army in military capacity.

Commenting on recently circulated information on Russia’s planning to supply Azerbaijan with S-300 missile systems, he noted, “Russia’s supplying missile systems simultaneously with providing safety guarantees to Armenia through signing protocol on amendments to the contract on Russian military base on the territory of RA, suggests RF seeks to benefit from the situation,” Stepan Safaryan stressed.
