RA Defense Ministry: Azerbaijani authorities restrict activity of ICRC Baku Office

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan presided over a sitting of the committee on POWs and missing persons.

The committee’s activity in 2010 and plans for 2011 were in the focus.

The committee Members noted that the process of captives’ return to the homeland proceeds slowly, as Azerbaijan does not display relevant willingness and decisiveness.

Stressing the necessity to increase the efficiency of works on return of captives, the committee members said that the violence towards Armenian captive Manvel Saribekyan and delayed confirmation of Arthur Badalyan’s captivity proves that the Azerbaijani authorities restrict the activity of the Baku Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the RA Defense Ministry’s press service reported.
