Armenia weightlifters bring 18 medals home from European Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Following a stunning victory at the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships, Armenia’s team returned home Sunday, April 17 with a total of 18 medals.

At the Norway-hosted competition, the team gained 8 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals overall, outpacing Turkey and Ukraine.

Meeting Europe’s best weightlifting team at the airport was the president of Armenia's National Olympic Committee, Gagik Tsarukyan, accompanied by the Minister of Sport Gabriel Ghazaryan.

At present, 5 male and 2 female weightlifters have qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
