  Armenia won 6 medals at Swiss Karate Open March 4, 2011 - 13:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia grabbed one gold, one silver and four bronze medals at the Swiss Karate Open. “The tournament brought together 1133 karatekas from 27 countries. The post-soviet area was represented by Russia and Armenia only. In the team event we finished 6th,” President of the National Federation of Karate of Armenia Arman Makyan said. Yerevan will host Armenian Karate Championship on March 19, after which the national team will be formed for participation in the European Championships. “Unfortunately, our government doesn’t attach proper attention to non-Olympic kinds of sports. This year governmental financial assistance to the Federation totaled AMD 2mln. Anyway, we will try to win lots of medals to draw attention of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs,” Makyan said.
