Armenian police discovered 392 cases of corruption in 2008 against 171 in 2007, including 24 cases for illegal appropriation and dissipation of funds, 9 for commercial bribery, 139 for tax evasion, 25 for abuse of power in trade organizations, 61 for abuse of authority, as well as a number of cases for bribery, falsification of position, judicial verdict evasion. Hunan Poghosyan pointed out bribery as the most common among corruption crimes. Thus, 65% of all cases were discovered by the police, while premeditated bribery comprised 61% of cases registered.
