The ceremony was opened by the president of Armenia Serzh Sargsian, who, in his welcome address congratulated the participants of the tournament and expressed his gratitude to grand master Levon Aronyan for his brilliant achievements in the international arena. "Today, Armenia has been the focus of the chess world. To conduct a tournament of such level as FIDE Grand Prix is honorable for every country.
