Armenian President welcomes participants of 5th FIDE Grand Prix

PanARMENIAN.Net - 5 phase of grand prix series of FIDE started in Jermuk, timed to the 80th anniversary of the legendary Armenian chess player and 9-th World Champion Tigran Petrosian.



The ceremony was opened by the president of Armenia Serzh Sargsian, who, in his welcome address congratulated the participants of the tournament and expressed his gratitude to grand master Levon Aronyan for his brilliant achievements in the international arena.



"Today, Armenia has been the focus of the chess world. To conduct a tournament of such level as FIDE Grand Prix is honorable for every country. It is no coincidence that this tournament is taking place in Armenia, and dated to the 80th anniversary of Tigran Petrosian," the President of the Republic of Armenia said.



14 players took part in stage 5 of a series of FIDE Grand Prix, which takes place in the Armenian town of Jermuk. List of participants 5th stage of grand prix by rating:
