Armenian female chess players held their first victory in World Team Championship

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the 5th round of World Team Chess Championship, Armenian women's national team held its first victory with a minimal score (2.5-1.5), beating tournament leader - Georgian national team.



Armenian team's leading players were Lilit Mkrtchyan and Lilit Galoyan who defeated Lela Djavakhishvili and Sopiko Khukhashvili respectively. Nelly Aghinyan played a drawn game against Maya Lomeniashvili, and Elina Danielyan who was playing on the first board suffered her fourth defeat, this time from Nana Dzagnidze.



In the first four rounds, Armenian female players were twice beaten 3.5:0.5 by United States and China and twice played drawn matches against Russian and Indian teams.



After their first victory, Armenian female players rose from the 9th to the 7th horizon. Following Georgia's defeat, sole tournament leader was the Polish team which beat Indian players 3:1.



In the 7th round of World Team Championship, Armenian players will compete against Poland.
